Personal / Community: Community project
Description: ADVANCE II is a 4.5 year project under the Feed the Future (FTF) initiative that began in 2014 in the Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions of Ghana. The initial goal was to increase private investment towards maize, rice and soybean value chains and now currently focuses on agricultural productivity, increasing market access and strengthening local community capacities. This project also aims for low emission development (LED) by reducing agricultural Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from crop production through the following improved agricultural practices: (a) soil and crop management; (b) alternate wetting and drying; (c) fertilizer and pesticide management. The goal is to increase food security for vulnerable farmers as well as implementing low emission agriculture.
