Measuring Resilience in Philippines

Personal / Community: Community project

Cities sub-categories: Infrastructure

Description: The Global Footprint Network (GFN) began a multi-phase initiative in collaboration with the Philippine government in 2011. The main objective was to analyze the country's resource constraints while identifying opportunities for including the footprint accounting approach to policy formation. Phase I of the project collaborated closely with the Philippines' Climate Change Commissioner Nadarev “Yeb” Saño to provide a new framework for measuring the country's vulnerability. In Phase II, GFN worked with the Environmental Protection and the Laguna Lake Development Authority for a detailed analysis in Laguna Lake Region. Through these efforts, the Philippines is incorporating the Ecological Footprint as a national indicator in their first National Land-Use Act/
