Description: Staff of Scottish EPA and Scottish Natural Heritage have developed a biodiverse wildlife garden on a former patch of municipal grass outside their office in Stirling. The planting scheme includes native wildflowers, other garden plant species of high value to native pollinators, and fruit and herb plants that are used by staff. The garden also has two benches to allow staff to get close to the gardden and spend quite time in contemplation. The garden is also intended to act as a demonstration and encouragement to action to other businesses on the business park which currently has a very low value for biodiversity. The garden is also managed to provide overwintering niches and habitat for invertebrates.

Why I love this solution: Demonstration value; involved staff from two agencies; makes a difference to the daily lives of everyone using our office, including me; is good for supporting pollinators and otehr invertebrates; procvides fresh herbs for m to take hme to cook with. This little garden is a gift that goes on giving!
