Description: CERN - European Organisation for Nuclear Research has the world largest and fastest particle accelerator - Large Hadron Collider (LHC) As one would guess, this accelerator produces a lot of heat. So instead of wasting huge amounts of liquid gas to cool it down, part of this heat will be used to heat apartment buildings in surrounding French cities. The pilot project will start in Concentrated Living Zone (Zone d'Amenagement Concentre, ZAC) in the town of Ferney-Voltaire with further cities being added down the road. Project is supposed to be launched in 2022
