Description: Along the Norwegian coastline, thousands of tons of marine waste is removed from beaches by volunteers every year. A good thing in its own right. Up until now however, this waste has been incinerated or landfilled, generating more carbon emissions and problems for coming generations. Now, a full scale pilot project to generate new materials from this waste, and keep these materials in a circular product/material flow has been initiated by the three companies Ope, Vestre and IVAR. Their goal is to sort and recycle what is possible from 100 tons of waste only in the pilot.
