Description: Proudly 'Made in Africa' by over 1'000 local employees, INTERHOLCO's wood products are sustainably produced, which means they are good for the Forests, for our Climate and for People. Customers from all over the world can thus choose a natural, renewable solution that won't cost the Earth. As shown in INTERHOLCO's Sustainability Report and web site: - 30% of the forest is under permanent protection, which in turn, protects the Climate; - as little as 1 tree per 2 football fields is harvested, thus limiting Carbon emissions; - thousands of Gorillas and Elephants stay protected. Sustainable Hardwood - Made in Africa is a solution for regional development, as well. Fair and competitive wages make it possible for 1'000 employees to take care of their families and communities. INTERHOLCO also builds infrastructure such as medical centres, libraries and schools, serving the local inhabitants in a remote area of the country. Free clean drinking water is provided, along with free electricity and housing.

Why I love this solution: Sustainable Hardwood - Made in Africa is FSC-certified. This means that it respects the highest international standards currently existing, to contribute to nature protection, fight against deforestation, stem climate change. At the same time, indigenous peoples and their rights are respected via a well-established set of mechanisms and procedures and social development is driven in a remote region.
