Description: The Fab City Global Initiative is enabling a shift away from the industrial paradigm of Product-in Trash-out, by enabling the return of manufacture to cities supported by a Data-in Data-out urban model. It was created in response to a 2014 challenge by the then mayor of Barcelona for cities to produce everything they consume by 2054. The Initiative comprises a Network of 28 cities, a core Collective and is governed by a foundation. They believe sustainability and livability depend on collective action and co-designed solutions which benefit the planet and the future of humanity.

Why I love this solution: I can use local materials to produce things using advanced fabrication technologies. It creates opportunities for mitigating waste; climate change & inequality.
